Hospitals Reach Capacity in 2 Texas Counties and residents are urged to Shelter-in-place
COVID-19 cases are spiking around the U.S. In a few counties in Texas, numbers are rising so high that it is causing hospitals to reach full capacity.
Judges in those counties is urging residents to shelter-in-place instead of participating in Fourth of July festivities.
According to Judge Eloy Vera, in a facebook post, there have been 18 deaths so far and two cases were so extreme in Starr county that the patients had to be air lifted to hospitals in San Antonio and Dallas.
He stressed in his facebook post, "The local and valley hospitals are at full capacity and have no more beds available. I urge all of our residents to please shelter-in-place, wear face coverings, practice social distancing and AVOID GATHERINGS.”
Judge Richard Hildago also issued a similar statement in the neighboring county, Hidalgo. He stressed to citizens in the county to “conserve resources, celebrate responsibly, and ONLY call 911 when necessary.”
