FedEx Makes History, Appoints First Ever Black Woman CEO (Anniversary Celebration)
Most companies, yet alone FedEx,, are known to be ran by a male CEO. FedEx has changed the course of history for their company. Ramona Hood is the newest CEO at FedEx. She is the first Black woman to hsve this position in the company's history. Hood, who was formerly the company's Vice President of operations, strategy, and planning, has specifically been promoted to both President and CEO of FedEx Custom Critical in February of 2020. FedEx Custom Critical provides same-day and overnight delivery of expedited freight.
Hood began her career with the company as a receptionist in 1991. In 1991, the company was called “Robert's Express". She stood out from her peers with her strategic and innovative ideas. She was the individual who initiated the program that allowed FedEx Custom Critical employees work from home during the early 2000s.
Hood has successfully climbed up the ladder in FedEx from heading subsidiary FedEx Truckload Brokerage to an officer position at FedEx Supply Chain in 2016. She then returned to FedEx Custom Critical for an executive position, a full-circle move after being a receptionist there years ago.
Hood has 29 years of experience at FedEx along with a Bachelors degree from Walsh University in Business Management and an Executive MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
