10-year-old plays dead while her parents and sister are murdered at home, in Texas
Xavier Davis, 28, was arrested on an unrelated charge when he was then charged with three counts of capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The Houston Police Department provided this information in a statement on last Thursday.
It is alleged that on Wednesday night, Davis went to the family's apartment off of Fondren Road in Houston, Texas and fatally shot three people: Donyavia Lagway, 29, Gregory Carhee, 35, and their 6-year-old daughter, Harmony Carhee. The couple's 10-year-old daughter was also shot. She was shot in the arm, but was able to survive by playing dead so she would not be shot again, Click2Houston and KTRK report.
After the gunman left, the little girl used FaceTime to reach her Grandmother, Manda Lagway, who then called 911, according to KTRK.
The 10-year-old described the incident. She said the assailant knocked on the door and her father answered. She said the man was wearing a mask. She said the man picked her 1-year-old brother up by his hair and threw him. Then the assailant sat her family on the couch before shooting them each in the head, according to KTRK reporting.
The baby and the 8-year-old brother were not harmed during the incident, as they were asleep.
Davis is being held on a $1 million bond. The motive for the killings is unclear, according to Click2Houston reporting.
The 10-year-old was rushed to the hospital after the incident and was listed as being in stable condition. Her grandmother, Lagway is proud of her granddaughter for her bravery.
"I just want everybody to know my baby, she's a hero. My baby is a hero," Lagway told KTRK.
