The difference of opinion, but Man Enough to Talk

New Orleans Saints teammates feuded on social media, but did their private conversation smooth things over? Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints Quarterback and team leader is in hot spit with more than just his teammates after his interview with Yahoo Financial earlier this week.
Celebrities, fans, and even a few foes have all flocked to Social media to express their displeasure with Bress and his statement.
According to Yahoo Sports, during Brees' June 3rd interview with Yahoo Finance, when asked about the whole Kolin Kapernick, NFL situations, Brees, obviously before thinking, replied: “I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country,” Brees said in his interview with Daniel Roberts. “Let me just tell what I see or what I feel when the national anthem is played and when I look at the flag of the United States.”
Now, at a time when the country is in an uproar because a black man was murdered by a white man kneeling on his neck in broad daylight, many of us are wondering why he felt it necessary to speak on such a touch issue, at a touchy time. As if his statement wasn't enough, Brees went on to talk about why he loves the flag. He talks about how his grandfather fought in wars, and as admirable as this is, now was simply not the time to talk about the flag Drew!
He should have responded sensitively but he didn't and whew they've been blasting you ever since! His PR should have warned you, but since he/she didn't, his teammate chimed right in! the New Orleans Saints safety and activist Malcolm Jenkins made a video saying, Drew Brees was a part of the problem, and needs to, "shut the fu** up.
Of course, strong words on such a public platform ruffled Brees' feathers, and as he should have, he immediately called his teammate. Jenkins, according to Yahoo Sports, took the call from Big brother Brees, and although he was appreciative of the call, it didn't change his stance.
Even after their convo, Jenkins released this statement: “Drew Brees. If you don’t understand how hurtful, how insensitive your comments are, you are part of the problem,” Jenkins said. “To think that because your grandfathers served in this country and you have great respect for the flag, that everybody else should have the same ideas and thoughts that you do is ridiculous. “And it shows that you don’t know the history. Because when our grandfathers fought for this country and served, and they came back, they didn’t come back to a hero’s welcome.
They came back and got attacked for wearing their uniforms. They came back to people, to racism, to complete violence.”
Brees. Brees. Brees, as a die heart Saints fan, I am disheartened and annoyed st your stance. Is this your white privilege peeking through? I would hate to think that our beloved leader of our team has a tainted heart filled with racism. Your need to speak against the protests, especially the peaceful ones, sadly shows exactly how you feel. It shows that you would place a flag over the life of black men. Maybe even one of the black men who block for you Sunday, after Sunday!
I hope you make amends with this, and an apology isn't good enough! Kudos to the two men for being able to talk about their difference of opinions, but man, Drew Brees has placed himself in the wrong lights nearing the end of his career.
